From Tom Garba, in Jalingo
Over Ten Thousand (10,000) members of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) in Taraba State Saturday decamped to the All Progressives Congress(APC).
The newly-elected state Chairman of the party Alhaji Abdulmumini Vaki who received the defectors at the Northern Zonal Secretariat of the APC in Jalingo, assured the decampees of an all-inclusive leadership style.
He also informed the gathering that APC in the state would ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari is reelected come 2019.
” I’m glad to receive you from our former house, PDM to the APC, and we will put hands on deck to ensure that the votes that Buhari will get from Taraba in 2019 will be more than that of 2015. he said.
“As we all know, Taraba State can no longer afford to be on the side of opposition and because of this, we will send PDP parking by the grace of God”, he emphasized.
According to Vaki, the greatest achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari for the good people of the State was the approval of the Mambilla Hydro Electricity Project that was proposed since 1945.
He advised the decampees to go to the grassroots and canvass for more members, to enable them “send PDP to eternal rest” in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, the former State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Movement, (PDM), Hon. Kabiru Muhammed said the former PDM members decided to decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of the good leadership quality of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He charged his followers to be good ambassadors as they were in the previous party.
In her remarks, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan who sent goodwill message on behalf of Buhari noted that the President has appreciated their unalloyed support in Taraba.
“To prove his support, he has granted approval of the Mambilla Hydro Electricity Project and has recently commissioned and handled Erosion and Flood Control Works in Jalingo, the state capital”, Senator Alhassan said.
She also restated the President’s assurance of rewarding the state the more, after the 2019 general elections.
