2019: Group backs Elrufai on Uba Sani affirmation
An APC youth organization, The Elrufai Progressives Movement (TEPMO) has hailed Governor Nasir Elrufai for affirming the candidature of Malam Uba Sani for the Kaduna Central Senatorial seat in 2019.
A statement signed by its Chairman Felix Magaji and Hadiza Hassan and made available to newsmen in Kaduna described the governor’s affirmation as legendary and in tune with “political consistency, because the governor understands the meaning of more acceptable candidates and cannot afford to derail at this crucial stage of the journey to 2019”.
The statement further indicated that the governor’s Political Adviser has for decades “built formidable political goodwill through economic empowerment of youths, women and children, while encouraging hardwork through competitiveness in sporting activities in Kaduna State”.
The group also argued that Malam Uba Sani “is one candidate well-respected by both the elders and the clergy of Kaduna State, regardless of ethnic and religious affinities “. It also pointed out that the gale of endorsement of the Political Adviser’s candidature for Kaduna Central in 2019 “are all testimonies to his towering political image and democratic credentials”.
It would be recalled that Elfufai made the affirmation during the statewide APC 2019 campaign rally in the three Local Government Councils of Kaduna Central, namely Chikun, Kajuru and Igabi.
The governor’s affirmation of Uba Sani’s candidature is coming a few months after his massive endorsement by the civil society groups and cooperative organizations within the seven local governments. The civil society and cooperatives’ declaration for support for Uba Sani came on the heels of another official endorsement of the Political Adviser by the APC chairmen in the local government councils of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone.
In each of the three Local Governments of Chikun, Kajuru and Igabi, Governor Elrufai asked the people and party leaders whether incumbent Senator Shehu Sani had lived up to their expectations with the N200m he was getting annually and N13m monthly as lawmaker, for which they replied with a resounding “no”.
The Kaduna APC campaign rally for 2019 general elections, flagged-off by Governor Elrufai across the 23 Local Government areas of the State ended on Thursday, with an observer of Kaduna politics describing it as “one of the biggest political carnivals in Northern Nigeria, ahead of 2019”.
