2023: Atiku’s victory knocks out APC’s Ahmed Lawan, Group says
A group the APC Loyalists Forum(ALF) has advised the national leadership of the ruling party to drop the idea of supporting Senate President Ahmed Lawan for presidency in 2023, saying the party would require ” a more formidable match to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar”.
Mohammed Ibrahim, leader of the group, who said this in a media statement at the weekend in Kaduna, argued that “politically speaking, Distinguished Senator Lawan does not the muscle to take up someone of the calibre of the Vice President because of Atiku’s massive political goodwill, built over three decades”.
Ibrahim noted that “someone like Tinubu would have been a more suitable match for the next biggest electoral battle ever in the history of Nigeria”.
It would be recalled that Senator Senator Lawan a close associate of Tinubu three his hat into the ring weeks ago, with analysts arguing he was fit for a President Buhari successor in 2023.
