Another closed-door plot: Modu Sherif meets Buhari
[5/17, 11:06 PM] nasirdambatta: A former governor of Borno State, Ali-Modu Sherrif, on Thursday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, held behind the closed doors of the president’s office, lasted about one hour.
Sherrif, a former caretaker committee chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, arrived the Villa at about 2:40pm and left at 3:45pm.
After the meeting, Sherrif exchanged pleasantries with some state governors who had earlier attended a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He, however, snubbed State House correspondents who were waiting to interview him on his mission to the Villa.
This was Sherrif’s first meeting with President Buhari since he was ousted as PDP’s caretaker committee’s chairman.
He had met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on September 22, 2017.
The national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress had last month asked Sheriff, who had expressed interest in joining the party in Abuja, to do so at his ward.
