Breaking: Akpabio is committed to FoI Act- Tafida

An aide to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Dr. Jibril Tafida has assured Nigerians that the President of the Senate is committed to the application of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.
Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna over the weekend, Dr. Tafida said Senator Akpabio will continue to support the freedom of information, as the Act is capable of ensuring the circulation of authentic information and “crushing fake news in the media.”
Dr. Tafida described Akpabio’s open support for the application of the FOI Act as “a significant step towards open governance and citizen participation.”
He explained that Akpabio’s leadership “deserves praise for promoting transparency and accountability in government.”
Furthermore, he stated further that “access to information is a fundamental right and crucial for holding leaders accountable.”
Tafida urged other leaders to follow Akpabio’s example and embrace the FOI Act, expressing hope that his stance will lead to a new era of transparency and accountability in Nigeria.
“I commend the Senate leadership for the support they have been giving President of the Senate, especially on this bold step towards openness and transparency. I call on Nigerians to support this laudable effort and work towards a more accountable and transparent government.”
Dr. Tafida’s endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Akpabio’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in government.
