Breaking: Associate urges senators to be patient with Akpabio
A close associate to Senate President Dr. Jibril Tafida, has urged senators to be patient with their leader Godswill Akpabio by giving him time to provide competent leadership and smoothen the path to legislative activities.
Dr. Tafida gave the advice in Kaduna while answering questions from newsmen shortly after Eid Prayers. He also assured senators that Akpabio will give everyone opportunities to contribute to national legislation on the floor of the Chamber and definitely do justice to all.
It was reported that some senators misunderstood the Senate President and his intentions, soon after he announced a few appointments.
Dr. Tafida, however, described him as a gentleman who “in the spirit of national unity and development will, as usual, carry everyone along.”
Dr. Tafida explained that all he wants is for the senators to understand that the issue at stake is being handled and that Akpabio is committed to working with everyone towards achieving the goals of the Senate.
He then reiterated his plea with the senators to be patient and to believe in his leadership, assuring that Akpabio is not the kind of leader that will take any action that would undermine the integrity of the Senate.
He also assured senators that the President of the Senate will always be available, to listen to their concerns as a leader committed to creating an enabling environment for them to perform their duties effectively.
His words: “I urge all senators to be patient and give him time to settle down. The SP is committed to inclusiveness in order to achieve the goals of the Senate. He is gentleman who believes in developing people and giving everyone the appropriate chance and opportunities. I assure you that he will do justice to all and will not take any action that would undermine the integrity of the Senate.”
The Senate President’s associate then called for understanding as a step towards having an organised senate for the overall interest of Nigerians. He further stated that Akpabio has demonstrated leadership and commitment to resolving issues in the past and can do even better at the moment.
