...Says Early Exit Exercise Is Voluntary

By Nasir Dambatta

Abuja – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has refuted claims of forced retirements within the institution, affirming that its recently introduced Early Exit Package (EEP) is entirely voluntary and tailored to support employees’ career aspirations.

Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, made this clarification on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in Abuja, dismissing fears of negative consequences for those who opt out of the scheme.

According to her, the EEP, previously exclusive to executives, has now been extended to all eligible staff after consultations with the Bank’s Joint Consultative Council (JCC), the body representing employees’ interests. “Staff representatives had long requested this package for all cadres, and management has now approved it to meet this popular demand,” she said.

Mrs. Sidi Ali assured employees that the program is strictly voluntary and has no adverse implications for those who choose not to participate. “The initiative is part of the Bank’s efforts to promote professional growth and well-being among its workforce,” she added.

The CBN reiterated its dedication to fostering a supportive workplace, describing the EEP as an internal policy designed to enhance career development opportunities for staff at all levels.
