Breaking: Kaduna Govt Dispels Misinformation Over Salary Shortfalls

Kaduna State Government has rejected rumours of salary shortafall as being bandied on social media by opposition elements.
The administration also confirmed that it has successfully implemented the N72,000 new minimum wage across all cadres, becoming one of the first states in Nigeria to do so.
The Office of the Accountant General, in a public notice issued on Thursday, clarified that all salary adjustments — including incremental increases based on grade levels — have been fully captured in the state’s payroll system. It described reports of non-compliance as “entirely false and misleading.”
According to the statement, any instance of a net salary appearing below the N72,000 threshold is attributable to voluntary deductions such as loan repayments, which were duly authorized by the affected employees.
“We have verifiable records to back every deduction,” the statement noted.
The Office further revealed ongoing engagements with Labour Unions, emphasizing that the current administration under Governor Uba Sani is labour-friendly and open to reviewing additional recommendations, though such reviews remain discretionary.
Reaffirming its commitment to fairness and transparency, the Office urged workers and the public to disregard rumours and seek direct clarification when in doubt.
For inquiries, according to the official clarification, citizens are encouraged to contact the Office of the Accountant General directly.
