The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has unanimously endorsed the adoption of indirect primaries for candidates, that will fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

The state chairman of the party, Air Commodore Emmanuel Kabirat Jekada (rtd) told newsmen shortly after the State Executive Committee meeting held at its secretariat in Kaduna.

The meeting, which had the state deputy governor, Arc. Yusuf Bala Barnabas, Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, members of the National Assembly, Kaduna State House of Assembly, statutory officials and members in attendance was peaceful after deliberations.

According to Air Commodore Jekada, the majority of the members voted in favor of indirect primaries and vehemently rejected direct primaries.

“For cogent reasons related to security, logistics, unity, stability and cohesion of the party. The majority of our members endorsed the adoption of indirect primaries through which the candidates that will fly our flag in the 2019 elections will emerge.

“It is a clear reflection of what the majority voted for. The Kaduna State has opted for the indirect primaries. This is the summary of today’s outcome. We shall immediately be informing the national leadership of our party of the outcome of our deliberations.”
