Chaos as Unknown gunmen kill many in Tel Aviv rail station
A deadly terror attack has reportedly unfolded in Jaffa, South Tel Aviv, on Tuesday, where at least eight people lost their lives and several others were injured.
The attack was launched on Jerusalem (Quds) Street, near a light rail station, according to Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service.
The attackers targeted a busy area, notorious for overcrowding, with unsuspecting commuters and pedestrians, causing widespread panic and chaos.
Emergency services, according to agency reports, rushed to the scene shortly after the attack was reported. Medics from Magen David Adom worked swiftly to provide life-saving treatment to victims, with some being found unconscious and in critical condition.
The area was cordoned off by authorities, and rescue efforts continued well into the evening, another source told Sahara Reporters.
Several of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment, and the situation was described as dire for some victims due to the severity of their injuries.
The two attackers, who were reportedly carrying firearms opened fire on civilians near the light rail station, a location that connects many parts of the city and serves as a key transportation hub.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror, with people scrambling for safety as shots rang out. “It all happened so quickly. People were screaming and running in all directions,” said one witness who was near the station during the attack.
Police confirmed that the two gunmen responsible for the attack were “neutralized” during a confrontation with security forces. It remains unclear however, whether they acted alone or were part of a larger network.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motives behind the attack and whether more perpetrators were involved.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, calling it a “barbaric act of terror” and vowed to bring those responsible to justice. Security forces across the region have been placed on high alert, and additional measures have been implemented to prevent further incidents.
The attack has left the nation in shock, as it comes amid heightened tensions in the region. The Israeli public remains on edge as security forces continue their investigations and search for potential accomplices.
