Court affirms El-Rufai’s nomination as APC governorship candidate

The Federal High Court has upheld the 2018 primaries that nominated Malam Nasir El-Rufai as the APC candidate for the governorship of Kaduna State.
The news first broke on social media, courtesy of the governor’s Special Adviser on Information, Mr. Muyiwa Adekeye on Thursday.
Yahaya Shinko, a former member of the APC, had approached the court to set aside the nomination of Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
Malam El-Rufai’s lawyers concluded their arguments at the court yesterday, 3 July 2019.
Delivering judgment today, Justice Zainab B Abubakar ruled that Yahaya Shinko’s case lacks merit and affirmed the validity of the APC primaries.
