Kaduna, June 12, 2024 – Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called on Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the principles of democracy, warning that the system must serve the people, not the other way round.

In a moving message to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Governor Sani paid tribute to the heroes of democracy, including Chief MKO Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi, who fought tirelessly for the enthronement of democratic rule in Nigeria.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing poverty reduction, job creation, and food security, noting that democracy can only be meaningful if it improves the lives of the people.

He highlighted his government’s investments in education, agriculture, and rural transformation, aimed at empowering the people and bridging the rural-urban divide.

Governor Sani emphasized that his administration is committed to accountability and recognizing the sovereignty of the people, adding that “the people must be at the center of all our political calculations. If we push the people to the background, we imperil our democracy.”

Stakeholders said the Governor’s message resonated with Nigerians across the country, who hailed his commitment to democratic values and his dedication to improving the lives of the people.
