A civil society group,  the Northern  Youth Assembly (NYA)  has decried the wrong use of influence in the access to N-Power and YouWin funds in the country,  especially  in Kano State.

The NYA has frowned at the activities of some powerful interests going through the backdoor with a new  list of favored beneficiaries as against better-qualified and already-screened beneficiaries.

The NYA,  in a petition jointly signed by its National President Comrade Ibrahim Waiya and Publicity Secretary,  Comrade Adikwu Omale Joshua raised  issues of cutting corners by influential  persons, especially in Kano State. The group also lamented how vested interests  were working against  the ‘change’ mantra of the present administration and called for appropriate action by the National Assembly to save the N-Power and YouWin programmes from being further hijacked by self-centred influencers.

Politics Today learnt that the petition by the group has since been forwarded to the offices of the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

His Excellency,
The Senate President,
Federal Republic of Nigeria
National Assembly,
Abuja,
Dear Sir,
RE: ALLEGED IMBALANCE IN N-POWER AND YOUWIN YOUTH ENTERPRISE PROGRAMMES
I write to crave the indulgence of your humble self on the need to urgently address the agitated growing imbalance in N-Power and YOU WIN Empowerment intervention programmes, allegedly being lopsidedly implemented to the detriment of some applicants who are supposed to benefit from it, with the growing concerns in some states, including Kano state where the programmes’ focus was discovered and claimed to be flawed.
The programmes as we were made to understand was designed to offer  its applicants, the opportunity to be included in the scheme of things devoid of acceding to primordial interest, only to discover some acclaimed deliberate lapses being infiltrated into the scheme, the same forces that are now seeking to hijack the programme to the advantage of some anointed class of people that did not even apply for it.
It was however our candid belief that the N-Power and YOU WIN intervention programmes were designed to cover all the nooks and crannies of the six geo-political Zones, with preference to those who applied for it, but was now alleged to be riddled with inconsistencies, which is seeking to defeat the sole aim and objectives of the programme.
The N-Power and YOU WIN Programmes were supposed to pay good attention to the applicants who according to due process applied for it and  be implemented in line  with the principles of the federal character.
In Kano for example, the  programme has appeared to have lost its relevance, focus and direction given the way and manner hundreds of indigenes of the State were grossly dropped from accessing the goodies of the programmes and blatantly  replaced with some favoured persons, despite gaining the required pass mark
We see it as an abiding obligation for your esteemed office to set up a high powered committee to investigate the activities and offices of those running the two programmes for sanity in its implementation and justice to all.
The Northern Youth Assembly, believes in the spirit of national unity, equity and justice to all, as the tools that would continue to keep Nigeria as one united entity, it is therefore on this note, we repose an unfettered confidence in your capacity and ability to act in the face of the growing alleged inconsistencies, marginalization and injustice, permeating the programmes, which are seeking to defeat the aim and  eventually spoil the entire show.
We find it as a matter of great responsibility to bring to your notice what we believe that, it is not the right thing as far as running the two interventions programmes are concerned, if the allegations are proved to be true, especially considering popular slogan of the present administration’s of a change mantra, which seek to fight corruption and bring sanity into the system, as well as to create jobs for the army of unemployed youths roaming the streets, which is a  recipe for abject poverty.
While counting on the unalloyed support of your office in shouldering the investigation task, we are also committed to sustaining the giant strides effected by the Buhari administration in creating self employment avenues for Nigeria youths.
Yours Sincerely,

Comrade Ibrahim A. Waiya, Comrade Adikwu Omale Joshua
