‘Hassan Nasiha may replace impeached Zamfara Deputy Governor
Barring last minute changes, Alhaji Hassan Nasiha may emerge the new Deputy Governor of Zamfara the State, as the replacement for the removed Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
The Zamfara State House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Mahdi Gusau, following the submission of “Report from the Committee set up by the Chief Justice of the State” to investigate the second most powerful office in the State.
Mallam Gusau was impeached during plenary on Wednesday shortly after the House received the report of the committee set up by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, to investigate the allegations against him.
The seven-member panel headed by retired Justice Halidu Soba, was set up to investigate the alleged impeachable offences against the deputy governor.
After the Speaker of the House, Nasiru Mua’zu received the report, a member of the panel, Oladipo Okpeseyi SAN told the Speaker that the committee carried out its assignment with the utmost integrity.
He said the probe panel only produced two copies of the report and has visited the assembly complex to present the report to the speaker.
The Speaker promised to treat the report in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
