LG polls victory for the masses – Elrufai
Governor Nasir El-Rufai has described the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saturday’s elections as a referendum on the programmes of his government.
In a statement issued in Kaduna on Monday, the governor said though challenges arose in some areas, the people deserved commendation for the maturity they demonstrated during the elections.
El-Rufai noted that his administration invested in Electronic Voting Machines at a considerable cost in oder to ensure electoral integrity and transparency.
His words: “Following the successful performance of the machines, Kaduna State is prepared to make its Electronic Voting Machines available to any state government that wishes to embrace electronic voting, on terms to be agreed,” he said.
Elrufai described the election as a the masses demystification of insinuations that people would punish the APC government at the polls, for taking consequential decisions in favour of ordinary people. He said it was evident that the masses have disproved the negative insinuations founded on selfish claims.
The governor then declared: “Our party has won a great victory. We salute those who voted for us. We did not win every local government, although we campaigned hard to do well everywhere. And having worked hard to make our case to the people, we respect the views of those who chose differently,” he said.
The governor expressed hope that the newly-elected officials will perform their duties at the councils by being so enterprising and innovative enough to inspire confidence of the masses in the State.
