The laughable attempt by the Kaduna State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to politicize the legitimate grievances of striking lecturers is yet another classic display of hypocrisy, desperation, and crocodile tears from a party whose legacy in Kaduna reeks of neglect, corruption, and chronic underperformance.

Coming out with a hurried press statement to feign concern for the same institutions they wrecked during their ruinous tenure is not just insulting to the intelligence of Kaduna citizens, but a stark reminder of how far the PDP is willing to go to trade in lies for political relevance.

Let’s be clear: the current administration of Governor Uba Sani inherited a deeply fractured education system—thanks in large part to the PDP years of looting and lip service to critical sectors. The infrastructural decay and poor staff welfare the striking unions are protesting today didn’t start in 2023; they are decades-old problems compounded by the PDP’s criminal neglect and refusal to invest in education when they had the opportunity.

It is therefore the height of political opportunism for the same PDP that failed to build a single world-class institution, refused to pay staff entitlements, and turned our colleges into glorified secondary schools, to now pose as the messiah of the masses. Their sudden solidarity with striking unions is nothing but a tactical move to milk cheap political capital.

Governor Uba Sani’s administration, unlike the PDP’s kleptocratic rule, has committed resources to revamping public education, with visible reforms in secondary schools, scholarships for indigent students, and budgetary transparency. Negotiations with unions are ongoing in good faith—not through propaganda but through practical steps.

To the PDP, we say: the people of Kaduna have not forgotten. No amount of sugar-coated statements will whitewash your criminal indifference to the suffering of students and lecturers during your time in power. Your hands are stained with the very rot you now pretend to condemn.

The era of impunity is over. Kaduna is moving forward, and no amount of PDP crocodile tears will derail that progress.
