Nigeria’s newly confirmed Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (rtd), stormed into office with a thunderous warning to terrorists: there will be no negotiations, no ransom, and no room for compromise. Moments after the Senate approved his appointment, Musa declared that the era of treating violent extremists with kid gloves is over, vowing that the military will “crush terrorism decisively, not bargain with it.”

Musa, a former Chief of Defence Staff known for his bluntness, told lawmakers that the only language criminal groups understand is force backed by national unity. According to him, dialogue and ransom payments have only emboldened kidnappers, insurgents, and bandits — a cycle he insists must be broken immediately.

He pledged to inject fresh energy into military operations nationwide, with more boots on the ground, tighter coordination among security agencies, and a revamped intelligence network capable of pre-empting attacks before they happen. Musa said Nigeria must now wage an uncompromising, intelligence-driven war that denies terrorists any breathing space.

He reminded the Senate that terrorism is not just a military challenge but a national one — requiring collaboration from citizens, community leaders, security institutions, and political actors. But he assured Nigerians that the armed forces, under his watch, will show zero tolerance for internal sabotage, indiscipline, or operational laxity.

Riding on the momentum of his confirmation, Musa declared that the security architecture of the country will undergo a sweeping overhaul, warning that anyone — civilian or uniformed — undermining the fight against terror “will be held to account without hesitation.”

With his fiery message resonating across security circles, Musa’s arrival signals a new, harder edge in Nigeria’s war against terror — one anchored on strength, clarity, and an unflinching refusal to negotiate with criminals.
