Police tackle El-Rufai on kidnapping Gang Allegation

The Kaduna State Police Command has dismissed former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s claim that his former commissioner, Malam Jafaru Sani, was abducted by what he called “Uba Sani’s kidnapping gang.” The police, in a strongly worded statement, described El-Rufai’s allegation as false and misleading.
El-Rufai had alleged on his X (formerly Twitter) handle that Sani was taken into custody without due legal process, accusing the state government and the police of orchestrating his abduction. However, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, refuted these claims, insisting that the police followed due process in the case.
“There is no such thing as a kidnapping gang within the Nigerian Police Force,” Hassan said.
“The police act within the law, investigating complaints and prosecuting cases where necessary. It is irresponsible to mislead the public with baseless allegations.”
The police further clarified that all arrests are carried out within the legal framework, stressing that individuals and organizations have the right to file complaints, which are investigated accordingly. They warned against making unfounded accusations that could undermine security agencies.
