PRIMARIES: KADUNA APC ASPIRANT BLASTS ‘MISCHIEF-MAKERS’
One of the aspirants of the APC from Kaduna North, Yusuf Salihu has condemned media reports about a rift between Governor Nasir Elrufai and the party’s aspirants, over the party’s primaries. He also urged the successful APC aspirants not to relent in their support for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor El Rufa’i, Mal Uba Sani and all APC candidates in the 2019 general elections.
In a media statement he issued in Kaduna Friday, Yusuf Salihu alleged that those who defected from the party were sowing the seed of discord and “trying to create crisis where there is none, all in their desperation to undermine the APC and the image of our Governor”.
The APC aspirant was responding to a recent report by a foreign online news platform, Sahara Reporters, that the aspirants in the last party primaries of the APC were about to collide with the Governor over who the party’s flagbearers should be”.
Describing the report as deliberate falsehood by malicious politicians who have failed to turn the APC into their private property where automatic tickets are dashed out at will, Salihu urged all the candidates to join hands in “fighting the devil’s advocates trying to create bad blood and friction in our party, using foreign media.”
According to him, “the ultimate goal of these agents of doom is to either create divide amongst party leaders, followers and stakeholders or set them all against our Governor. We dare say this evil plot is already dead on arrival”. He added that the party has come a long way in sustaining its unity and brotherhood, “with the full support of our leader, the highly-principled Governor Elrufa’i”.
Hon Salihu then expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders for holding “one of the freest, fairest and transparent primaries in the country”.
Hon Salihu attributed his recent success at the APC primaries as both an attestation and demonstration of Governor Elrufa’i’s neutrality and fairness, where he gave every aspirant a level playing.
