ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS APC KADUNA STATE NO.4 ALI AKILU WAY, KADUNA

PRESS RELEASE.

Planned Protest

THE APC Kaduna State chapter views the intention of some people in Nigeria to protest effective 1st August 2024 with a mixed grill. This is so because of the tendency of the well-intended process to be highjacked by some misguided individuals.
Every Nigerian, as provided for in the constitution, has the right to protest. However, and particularly looking at the efforts of the president and other tiers of governance in the country to right the wrongs, calls for caution and restraint.
We are fortunate to have a listening president who is always willing and ready to do the people’s will and from every indication, who is ready to act to address the issues being raised. No doubt, everybody knows things are tough but the government is doing its utmost best to address these challenges. Thus, demonstration at this time is not the best option. Demonstrations are genuine when they are done with a genuine national interest at heart. When the rights of others are not infringed on and when there are no exterior influences on the demonstrators.
We therefore urge all youths in Kaduna State and indeed every citizen of our well cultured state to stay clear of the promptings to join as this will leave us worse off.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna State Chapter led by Air Commodore EK Jekada (rtd) mni, urges Nigerians to exercise more patience and avoid resorting to protests in the face of prevailing hardships where there is a clear evidence that Government is not resting on its oars.

The party acknowledges the hard economic times the country is presently going through but emphasizes the need to give the APC-led administration time to address the multifaceted challenges confronting the nation.

In the wake of recent security reports, the APC Kaduna State Chapter expresses deep concerns about faceless organizers both from within and without the country, attempting to exploit the protest for their own personal and selfish interest.

“We caution the youth particularly to be vigilant and explore dialogue even in this situation and not to allow misguided persons to take advantage of the prevailing situations to incite societal unrest. There is no gain repeating that some misguided individuals may infiltrate the protest with the intent of raising social entropy and unrest. We therefore advised the youths to tread carefully and cautiously during these critical times. The youths, like every Nigerian, have the right to protest , ut in this case, it is not the best option

While appreciating Nigerians’ right to freedom of expression and peaceful protest, the APC Kaduna underscores the need for responsible conduct, as protest is never the best solution, considering how it has turned violent in some other countries of the world and even in Nigeria, the #EndSASS# being a good case in point.

The party believes that balancing democratic rights with public safety remains crucial and appeals to Nigerians to give the administration more time to implement the people-centric policies it has begun.

Recognizing that the current government has been in office for barely one year, the party believes that sustained efforts, patience, resilience, and collective support are essential as the nation navigates its challenges.

The party, therefore, stands firmly behind the federal and state governments’ economic programmes as it spurs them on.
