Re-run: Uba Sani flays election violence, clarifies Elrufai’s whereabouts
Uba Sani, the Senator-elect for Kaduna Central took strong exception to reported violent disruption of election processes in some states where supplementary elections were held on Saturday.
Sani who said he had closely monitored the reports, reminded Nigerians of the imperative of adhering to democratic practices in order to safeguard the nation’s hard-earned democracy.
Debunking rumours that Governor Nasir Elrufai has traveled to one of the concerned states to interfere in the re-run polls, Sani said they are unfounded and baseless lies.
“I am disturbed by reports from a number of places where unscrupulous persons are bent on subverting the will of the people to freely and fairly elect their leaders.
“This is highly regrettable and stands condemned. For one who still bears the scars of our struggle for the enthronement of civil democratic rule in our great country,” he said and pleaded with all persons involved in the heinous acts of disrupting elections and preventing the people from casting their votes freely, to desist forthwith.
“Our democracy is still nascent; let’s be patriotic enough to guard against anything that will endanger it,” he said.
Clarifying the rumour about Governor Elrufai, the Senator-elect said the Governor is in Kaduna discharging the duties he was elected to do.
“Talks that he is currently in Kano, Bauchi or heading towards Adamawa State is false and totally misleading. Let us play fair for the sake of our beloved country please,” he said.
