Sara-suka: Fear grips Kaduna politicians behind thuggery
- As security agents hunt sponsors of terror gangs
Security agents in Kaduna State are closing-in on the remnants of the leaders of Sara-suka gangs of thugs that have held many communities hostage in the last three months. The thugs have sometimes operated in broad daylight, as they strut, fret and swagger like cowboys in a movie.
Investigations by Politics Today in communities like Kawo, Rafin Guza, Rigasa, Unguwan Shanu, Unguwar Rink, Tudun Wada, Abakpa and Unguwar Sarki revealed that the terror gangs members have gone underground. The situation has been the same in many local government areas of the State, notably Zaria, Lere, and Giwa amongst a host of others. A source that does not want to be named told our reporter in Rigachikun, a suburb of Kaduna, that some of the thug leaders who have gone into hiding “have started begging for amnesty in exchange for their inevitable arrest”.
For weeks, investigations further revealed, the security agents in the State launched a vigorous manhunt for the terror gang members and their leaders, leading to the massive arrests in a series of raids. In addition to the ongoing efforts, the local vigilante is also complimenting the efforts of the security agents in intelligence gathering.
Meanwhile, another source which pleaded anonymity said the security agents have intensified the multi-faceted approach to war on thuggery by closing-in on politicians suspected of funding the activities of the thugs as a political strategy of destabilizing the State.
A cross-section of Kaduna residents commended the efforts of the security agencies and especially the state government for stepping up efforts on the threat posed by the politically-motivated attacks on innocent people in selected communities of the state.
