In a move aimed at strengthening traditional institutions and enhancing grassroots governance, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, in collaboration with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), has distributed official vehicles to 19 Emirs and Chiefs across the state.

Governor Sani revealed that the gesture followed his appeal to the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas, Ph.D, over the mobility challenges being faced by the traditional rulers in the discharge of their duties. The Speaker, in turn, facilitated the intervention through SMEDAN.

“I am happy that SMEDAN has intervened to put smiles on the faces of our traditional rulers,” the Governor said.

He praised the Emirs and Chiefs for their steadfast commitment to peace and unity, noting their invaluable role in stabilizing the security situation in Kaduna State. According to him, the government’s ability to work harmoniously with traditional institutions, security agencies, and other critical stakeholders has played a major role in sustaining peace.

“Let me commend our Royal Fathers for their unrelenting commitment to the promotion of the values of peaceful co-existence and shared prosperity. We shall continue to prioritize their welfare to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness,” he added.

The vehicle distribution marks a significant recognition of the role of traditional rulers in governance, particularly in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and community engagement.

The intervention underscores the Governor’s ongoing efforts to build inclusive leadership structures that harness both modern administrative systems and traditional authority for sustainable development.
