Unrest: Rep tasks Kaduna residents on tolerance
The lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Hon Samaila Suleiman, has tasked the residents of Kaduna State in general and Kaduna North in particular to ensure tolerance for one another.
Hon Suleiman made the call in a media statement he issued to newsmen following Sunday’s unrest that led to killings and arson in the Kaduna metropolis. He declared that the unrest was deliberately created by enemies of Kaduna’s progress in a desperate bid to achieve their evil agenda.
He sympathized with the people of the State over the incident, which started last week and spilled over to Sunday, leading to the imposition of a 24-hour state-wide curfew by the State government .
The lawmaker appealed to the youths in the State to shun rumour-mongering capable of stoking the fire of violence and embrace peace and brotherhood. He then tasked traditional rulers and religious leaders to continue to counsel the youth on the dangers of violence and the need to cooperate with the Elrufai administration to attain lasting peace and purposeful development.
Hon Suleiman, who commended the efforts of Governor Nasir Elrufai for visiting the affected communities and taking prompt and decisive action on the unrest, thanked security agencies and civilian JTF for rising to the challenge.
He then prayed for Devine intervention in the the current challenges of violence and arson that occurred in the metropolis.
