The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has once again raised the alarm over the proliferation of fraudulent schemes falsely linked to the apex bank. In a fresh advisory issued by its Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, the Bank warned the public against individuals and groups peddling fictitious contracts, intervention funds, and grants allegedly approved by the CBN.

Despite an earlier public warning issued on November 18, 2024, the CBN noted that deceptive offers have continued to circulate across emails, phone calls, WhatsApp, and social media, targeting unsuspecting Nigerians.

“The CBN has not authorised, licensed, or appointed any individual or organisation to act on its behalf in offering contracts or financial assistance,” the statement read.

The Bank stressed that it does not engage intermediaries for fund disbursement or request payments of any kind to access supposed financial benefits.

Members of the public are urged not to engage with fraudsters and to report suspicious activities to law enforcement or the nearest CBN branch.

The apex bank reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians from financial scams and pledged ongoing collaboration with security agencies to tackle the menace.
