By Nasir Dambatta
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has emphasized his commitment to governance, stating he will not engage in “baseless and idle talks” that do not contribute to the state’s development.
Speaking after an Iftar dinner with Kaduna Social Media Influencers at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, the Governor highlighted his administration’s achievements over the past 22 months, including interventions in agriculture, education, and improved security in previously troubled areas.
Addressing the longstanding issue of water scarcity, Governor Sani declared a state of emergency in the water sector upon taking office. He reported that capacity utilization of the water supply scheme has increased from less than 5% to 30%, with expectations to reach 100% by year’s end. The administration has cleared an N800 million salary backlog for Kaduna State Water Corporation staff and settled N1.3 billion in electricity debts.
The Governor also noted that peace has returned to Birnin Gwari and Giwa local governments, areas previously affected by insecurity. The reopening of the Birnin Gwari cattle market, closed for over a decade due to security challenges, has revitalized local commerce, with over 30 trailers transporting cattle daily to southern Nigeria.
Governor Sani expressed gratitude to social media influencers for promoting the state’s initiatives and assured them of continued support. He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of Kaduna State and remaining focused on governance without distractions.
