Breaking: Uba Sani Rolls Out 24km BRT Project to Supercharge City Transport

The Kaduna State Government is set to commence the construction of a 24-kilometer Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor from Kawo Bridge to Sabon Tasha. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility within the state.
The Director General of the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA), Inuwa Ibrahim, confirmed this development during a media briefing. He announced that Governor Uba Sani will officially launch the project by performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the KBRT’s Southern Terminal on March 11 at the Kaduna Line depot.
The BRT system is designed to feature 30 stations along an exclusive right-of-way, ensuring safe pedestrian crossings. Plans also include widening the River Kaduna Bridge to accommodate dedicated BRT lanes. A fleet of 120 articulated 18-meter buses, including 10 spares, will serve an estimated 160,000 daily commuters, offering a reliable alternative to current transportation options.
Construction is expected to commence soon, with completion anticipated within 36 months. The project emphasizes inclusivity, with designs accommodating Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Upon completion, the BRT system is expected to transform Kaduna’s metropolis, beautifying the city and enhancing nighttime safety.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to providing efficient, inclusive, and modern public transportation solutions for its residents.
