Hope Soars as Uba Sani Appoints Female Journalist to Lead Kaduna Radio
Hope is soaring in Kaduna State following Governor Uba Sani’s appointment of Hajiya Farida Abubakar Ahmed, a seasoned female journalist, as the new Executive Director (Radio) of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC).
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Zone A has commended the governor for this groundbreaking decision. In a statement jointly signed by its Vice Chairperson, Rabi Muhammad Gwadabawa, and Zonal Secretary, Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu, NAWOJ described the appointment as a significant milestone for women in leadership and media.
“Hajiya Farida is a seasoned journalist, image manager, and development practitioner with an impressive track record,” the statement noted.
Her illustrious career spans multiple roles, including Correspondent for TV and Radio Government House, Kaduna (2007–2011), Chairperson of NAWOJ Kaduna Chapter (2012–2013), and Press Secretary to the First Lady, Fatima Ramalan Yero (2013–2015). She also served as Chairman of the NUJ KSMC Chapel (2018–2019).
Before this appointment, she was the Public Relations Officer for the Kaduna State Maternal Accountability Mechanism (KADMAM) and a member of the Ministerial Visitation Panel to Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (2012). Currently, she is the National Internal Auditor of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa.
NAWOJ praised Governor Uba Sani for recognizing Hajiya Farida’s contributions to journalism and public service, calling her appointment a testament to the governor’s commitment to empowering women and fostering excellence in leadership.
