Just in: Again, Tinubu cuts governance costs

In a bid to further streamline government expenditure, President Bola Tinubu has issued new directives limiting the official resources of ministers, ministers of state, and heads of federal agencies. Effective immediately, these officials are restricted to a maximum of three vehicles in their convoys, with no additional vehicles permitted for movement.
This initiative follows earlier measures taken by the President to reduce costs, including cutting his foreign trip entourage from 50 to 20 officials and limiting local trip personnel to 25. The Vice President’s entourage has also been minimized, now capped at five officials for foreign trips and 15 for local travel.
Additionally, the new directives mandate that officials can have a maximum of five security personnel, consisting of four police officers and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS), with no extra security personnel allowed.
To further enforce these changes, the National Security Adviser has been tasked with consulting Military, Paramilitary, and Security Agencies to explore additional reductions in vehicle and security deployments. All officials are required to comply with these measures immediately, underscoring the administration’s commitment to reducing government spending.
